About this Event
Students can compete to be Virginia's Community Colleges (VCCS) 2025-2026 Poet Laureate or Visual Art Luminary.
The competition allows students to express themselves creatively, either verbally or visually through this year’s theme of “I Dream”.
The process:
- NOVA students will submit their art through this application to be judged by local poets and artists.
- NOVA judges will select one winner from the poet laureate category and one winner from the visual art luminary category.
- These winners will advance to the state competition in March at Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke.
- A new panel of judges at the state competition will select a Poet Laureate and Visual Art Luminary of Virginia's Community Colleges.
Deadline: Submit your work through the application by Sunday, February 8th, 2026.
